Here you’ll discover the basic information needed for booking your stay, event, retreat, or location shoot, along with more detailed information about the Majou estate itself.

THE PRACTICALS

How to Get Here:

Majou is situated 20 minutes from Carcassonne and 45 minutes from Toulouse. Both cities have trains and airports.  Transport can also be arranged from Barcelona or Montpellier airports. Airport pick-up, drop-off, and general transportation can be arranged.

  • Accommodations & Hospitality for events: On-Site Lodging: Sixteen private guest rooms (up to 34 persons)  and 13 full baths in total, between the Main House, the Gite and the Roulottes.
  • Breakout & Bonus Areas: Private salons, prep suites, yoga/dance spaces, and poolside patios available for smaller group sessions or pre-event prep
  • Nearby Hotels: Additional rooms available at hand-picked local chambre D’Hotes and hotels, with coordination support for transport and group bookings – yet we can make no guarantees as to availability.
Booking information and requirements:
  • Events: Majou welcomes more intimate gatherings of 25-75.  For larger events, dinners, dances, and concerts, we can comfortably accommodate up to 200 guests. Choose from flexible indoor and outdoor spaces: elegant dining rooms, garden terraces, vineyard ceremony spots, and al fresco lounges under starlight. With use of the fields, we will happily discuss larger numbers.
  • Retreats: typically require a minimum 5-day booking. Catalogue and commercial shoots are flexible. Seasonal availability with minimum stay requirements for weekends. Holds, contracts, and cancellation policies designed for clarity and confidence.
  • Weddings: typically require a 7-day booking (which includes a day of set-up and a day of teardown).
  • We recommend booking 12-16 months in advance of your wedding or large event but get in touch, you never know – you may get lucky!

  • Add-On Services: Enhance your stay with culinary add-ons, vineyard tours, local spa treatments, or upgraded lodging.
  • Flexible Payments: Deposit requirements, payment timelines, and cancellation policies clearly defined for your peace of mind.
  • Inclusions: Your rental includes venue access, essential furnishings, Wi-Fi, parking, and day-of coordination.

Food:
  • Farm-to-Table Offerings: our culinary team can curate seasonal menus rooted in the land, so your team or guests don’t have to move unless you choose to do so.  We design your “package” specifically to include what you desire. We can provide just breakfast or full-service meals, or anything in-between. We work with local caterers as well – or you are free to bring your own.
  • Tastings & Customization: Schedule a tasting session, collaborate with chefs, or design bespoke beverage pairings.
  • Wine & Bar Service: Full bar setup available, featuring local wines, curated cocktails, and customizable beverage plans (hosted or cash bar options).
Practical Details, Activities & Guest Comfort:
  • Accessibility: Select areas of the estate are ADA-compliant. We’re happy to help guests navigate any mobility needs.
  • Family-Ready: Ask about children’s games, babysitting referrals, or kid-friendly dining options
  • Laundry: Washers and dryers onsite. For an additional cost, your laundry can be done for you.
  • Nearby Essentials: Quick access to gas stations, pharmacies, hardware stores, and emergency services.
  • On Site: Martine & Regis, our discreet guardians, are on property full time on the property. It is likely that Alison will be in her residence as well.
  • Outings: We can arrange restaurants, market & winery visits, historical tours, beach and river days, electric bikes.
  • Pet-Friendly Options: Upon request, furry companions are welcome to join your day.
  • The weather: The Aude is a mosaic of microclimates yet rarely is extremely cold. The sun shines bright from April to October, with occasional short rains. Bring your sunscreen and an emergency poncho and you will be covered!

Current Retreats & Schedule

The Majou Estate

Each room at Majou offers a desk for writing, crisp cotton sheets, and views across fields leading to the village or to the south with the pool and the Pyrenees in the distance. Living quarters open onto a large terrace overlooking the countryside, perfect for morning coffee or evening aperitifs while watching village lights twinkle in the distance.

 

ROOMS

Main House

The Main House provides seven bedrooms and five bathrooms (sleeping parties of 7-16), plus a fully equipped kitchen and spacious living room. On the first floor, there are three bedrooms (two queens and one king) and two bathrooms. One bathroom can be ensuite or can be “Jack & Jill.” Both
bathrooms are beautifully renovated and have bathtubs. On the top floor, there are four wood-beamed rooms and two bathrooms with showers. Two bedrooms share a “Jack & Jill” bath. The other two share a bathroom, which has views of the village.

GÎTE

The Gîte offers 4 bedrooms and 4 ensuite bathrooms, sleeping 4-8 guests. Two bedrooms have twin beds, which can be made up into a
king; one has a double bed, and the last has a beautiful four poster queen bed. All bathrooms have showers, two have bathtubs as well.
One twin room is on the ground floor. The Gîte has an open kitchen and living space and is accessible through a separate front entrance with direct access to the large outdoor back patio.

Roulottes

Additionally, our four Roulottes offer more space for more guests. Each is self-contained with a little kitchen, a shower bath (with great water pressure), a little sitting area and a cozy double bed. (Two accommodate up to 3, three accommodate a couple).

GROUNDS

EVENT SPACES

The large event hangar is a covered space for events, concerts, and parties, accommodating up to 200 guests. The attached professional chef’s kitchen invites culinary creation. A changing area and three toilets are located in the hangar area. In addition to these spaces, Majou also offers:

  •  An Olive grove with a pergola in the center for smaller gatherings.
  • An indoor-outdoor space with a large farmhouse table to accommodate dinners for up to 32 people.
  • An outdoor terrace for weddings, meals, or yoga.
  • A park accessed by a grand old stone stairway.

AMENITIES

Enjoy the gym, sauna, dance studio, library, and our professional chefs’ kitchen. Herbs, wildflowers, and olive trees flourish alongside stone terraces perfect for dining under distant views. Mirabelles, peaches, apricots, wild cherries, quince, and pears hang from the trees, awaiting seasonal picking. 

  • A flexible room, separate from the gîtes, which can also function as a bridal changing room, photo studio, gathering room, art room, or staging space.
  • A large Library/ Conference room, Gathering Space (ready April 2026), with screening facilities and magnificent views.
  • A dance studio.
  • Bike rentals available, including helmets.
  • Each Room is furnished with shampoo, cream, a hairdryer and bathrobes

POOL

The large saltwater
swimming pool is a perfect spot to cool off after a day at the market or to gather guests for a casual poolside Apéro before dinner is served on our large terrace. Meals can be served poolside.

  • Towels, umbrellas, and comfortable loungers are available to use. 
  • Available at any hour; swim at one’s own risk.
